Hello. I’d love to buy a BigWig Tulip blank in purple, white and turquoise, like you have pictured in your “blanks for sale” section, but I’d like one small part of the cue to be unique, so that I am the only one to have one just like it. I’d like to buy a blank this week. Let me know, thanks.
Best regards,
Jeff from Louisville, Ky. U.S.A.
Hello Jeff,
Glad you requesting customizations! Let’s work out something unique together.
So the base geometry is Bigwig, main color is black.
Splices colors are purple, white and turquoise.
Thin white splices are understood, let’s call them the web. What about thick turquoise and purple? How we should arrange them?
Here is an option. We can make purple just on the bottom set of splices and the top leave with turquoise only.
Here is how it works. The picture below is a little messy, but it graphically shows how splice customization could work. Each splice of these 10 could be made with custom color.
Here is how it looks at the beginning, so-called check marks create the final model design:
Moreover each half of any splice could be made with custom color, creating design we call wheat. It’s different story, on some models it looks appropriate. Just information.
Looking forward your decision.
Have a good day,
Anton
I like your idea. Could you e-mail me with those pics and maybe one of these with one or two splices of yellow in with the turquoise, black, white and purple? I’ll buy a blank from you. Thanks.
Jeff
Jeff,
Do you mean something like this?
So, these blanks will need a shaft, a joint and a buttcap/bumper? What is the best kind of finish makers are using? Two-part epoxy with CA glue on top? I’m guessing that a AAA piece of well-seasoned Canadian Hard Rock Maple is best for the shaft? Should I get a pre-made shaft from a top company like McDermott, Pechauer or Meucci? Have a local cuesmith make one with my personal desire of taper. Maybe a pro-taper? Thanks.
Jeff
Yes, the blank is just a piece of wood made in desired length and butt\joint diameters with a margin. Finish completely depends on a cuemaker and your wishes. You first need to find a cuesmith and discuss all nuances. What appearance you choose for it, would it be glossy or matte, what weight and length it should be, would it has any engravings and inlays, what joint it should has and diameter to match any desired shaft, and so on – customization.
We can make a finished cue butt by the way, here is the store section: http://shurikencues.com/cue-butts/
Antony, yes, something like that. The yellow looks a bit greenish. Maybe it is just the photo. Have you made this cue in these colors before? I’d like a one-of-a-kind cue. I will contact a guy in my city that is a cue maker about getting a joint installed in it. I can then take it to a guy who repairs/refurbishes cues that I’ve used before, who can put the finish on it and the ferrule and tip. He does great work. Thanks for your help.
Jeff
Jeff,
It’s just visualisation, shade of the color will differ depends on finish.
We have never made a cue or cue blank in this colors before.
Such cue blank will cost $300 shipped. Estimated making time is about 3 weeks, after payment we start. Our standards for blanks are 30 inches length and 23x33mm diameters. Feel free to request your own measurements.

You can pay using this button:

Looking forward your order.
Have a good day,
Anton
I saw that your shafts have splicing on them near the joint end. Do you have very low deflection shafts?
Thanks,
Jeff
We make splicings on shafts. It makes the hit a little stiffer and directional, but has not affect the deflection noticeably
Antony, thanks for all your assistance in this matter. I’d like to place an order for a butt section and shaft. What wood species can you make your shafts out of? Can we have a “pro taper” shaft? Do you have Canadian Hard Rock Maple? Can you use the same colors to do a miniature splice job on the shaft next to the joint area? Thanks.
Best regards,
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
Thank you for questions and ideas!
The majority of our shafts are made of Hornbeam, white natural or black dyed. For Snooker cues we use Ash wood. Maple is rare here in Ukraine, but if it’s fundamentally for you, we can order some stabilised timbers of Maple or any other wood you desire. For example on this store or similar. It will effect the processing time and final cost though.
We make complete cues with pro taper shafts. Cue blanks we make only with straight cone. Our standard diameters are 33mm x 23mm for a butt and 23mm x 19mm for a shaft. Feel free to request your own.
The cost of such blank with a shaft will be $550 shipped.

Antony,
Could you show me what the wide, standard and thin would look like with this color combo? Also, this Tulip Bigwig can be had in long or another size of splicing?
Jeff
Bigwig long in this colors will look like this:
The cost of this blank is $500 with shaft (shipped).

Here is the button for a Paypal payment:
Antony, I like the long in the color combo above. I’d like your shaft with those colors, also. Can you make the splices on the shaft about 1/3 the length of the shaft? I’d like the shaft to be uncolored, natural. You can do the same color combo on it, like the butt section white, teal, white, purple, white, yellow, white or just teal, purple and yellow for the upper shaft section near the joint. Thanks.
Jeff
Jeff,
Something like this:
Antony, how hard is hornbeam? Hard like Ash or Hard Rock Maple?
Jeff
Crushing strength is closer to Ash. In general they all 3 has alike characteristics (+-)
Antony, I think we have arrived at a style/color combo that I will want to buy. Sign me up!
Jeff
Antony, I just sent you a payment of $500. for the butt section and shaft you showed me in your May 13 reply to my questions. The one sent at 12:58 on 13-5-2020. Thanks for helping me in my search for a custom-made cue. Will the butt section have the Shuriken logo on it? Thanks.
Jeff
Jeff,
Got the payment, thank you. Please check your email.
We don’t put logos on our blanks yet, but working on some ideas that need to be tested properly
I have an e-mail from you all. I’ll read it today. I’d like to have a plug, if you care to send it along with my cue. I can install it or have the local cue-maker do it. So, about 3 weeks to produce? How long to get to my door? Shipping and customs and then delivery should take about 2 weeks or less? Maybe.
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
Sorry for the delay with response.
Your blank is in work. We are going to finish and send it this week.
Unfortunately no plugs yet, they are on testing stage.
Standard delivery takes about 21-25 days. Also we send express – about 1 week to the US, it costs $60 extra. Please let me know if you’d like to use it.
Have a good day,
Anton
Anton, I’ll take the 21-25 day delivery. I’d like to have a tracking number with that. Can you post some pics of it in it’s stages of completion for my history of it? Thanks.
Jeff
Anton, when you get a viable plug figured out, I’d like to have one to install on my cue, so you all can get the credit of who made it. If I don’t get one in time, I’ll have a nice font picked out and have the name Shuriken Custom Cues put on it and/or a logo with SCC on it. What is the name of the city you all work out of? You all are located in Ukraine? Later.
Jeff
Anton, evening. Did you all ship my cue this week? If so, what is the tracking number? Thanks.
Hey, Can I hear back from you guys? Where is my cue? Did you all ship it yet? Can I have a tracking number?
Hello Jeff,
I beg a pardon for the delay.
Your cue blank is still in the process. Wood is whimsical material, it need some time in a kiln and special treat in this stage to avoid any problems in finish like warping, twisting, etc. We like all to be perfect as much as possible and have happy clients.
Sorry again for the delay.
Hope on your patience and understanding.
Have a good day,
Anton
I hoped that the woods you use, are very stabile, so that months after I receive it, it won’t warp so that I can’t use it. I would have to return it. Thanks.
Yes, of course. We value our reputation. You’ll get top quality product, be sure.
Anton, how’s it going? I was wondering if my cue has been shipped off? I wish I had bought a finished cue, but that is ok. I really do want a full customized cue, so I will call and talk with the cue maker in my town. I got his name and number 3 days ago from a man that owns and runs a billiard supply place. Nice man named Mr. Roberts.
Jeff
Hello Jeff,
Your blank is complete and ready for shipping. I’ll send you an email to confirm your shipping address.
When the blank arrives please give it a few days to acclimate. Somewhere dry place in vertical position will be fine.
I can offer you finishing this blank with your desired parameters. It will cost $100 extra. And to compensate delays we’ll send it via express mail for free.
What you think about it?
I think that would be great. I’d like a type of pro taper on the shaft and the ferrule should be 12.5mm. A steel joint. I’d like to know what joints and butt caps you offer. Any other decorations you offer? Let me know. Thanks, Anton.
Jeff
Jeff,
Please choose type of the taper, or name your own desired diameters and length:
Tip 12.5mm
Carbon ferule
Also we need to know total length of the cue, weight and butt diameter.
Our standard joint is stainless steel pin with metric thread.
Also we offer Radial pin and Uniloc quick release, but it costs $40 extra.
Black or white joint protectors cost $35 for metric joint. Colored or grained, Radial and Uniloc quick release joint protectors cost $50.
Ringwork and butt collars something like this:

No extra cost.
Feel free to request your own variants.
Thank you,
Anton
Anton, I’d like the taper to begin past the spliced area on the shaft. I’d like a white ferrule. Total length 60″. Not sure what type of butt sleeve I’d like. Maybe the #6. I may leave that blank and come up with my own design and have that part finished here. I’d like the radial pin. I’d like that really glossy finish on it that custom makers are commonly using now. CA glue or two-part epoxy? I’ve seen many makers using that CA glue and spraying the catalyst on it while it is turning. Really hard and glass-like. Thanks.
Jeff
Jeff,
We use special varnish to get glossy effect, please check photos of our cues to see the finish we offer.
Looks like you want something specific. It’s hard to compete with top US cuemakers who use advanced finish technologies. So probably it would be better if we send you the blank, ok?
You all can do everything except the finish. How about that?
Jeff,
No problems. Please confirm the parameters:
Taper begins past the spliced area.
White ferrule.
Butt rings like #6.
Radial joint pin.
No varnish.
Total length 60″ (30\30).
Tip diameter 12.5mm
Weight –
Butt diameter –
The cost is $100 + $40 (radial pin).
Estimated processing time is about 2 weeks.

Anton, I’d like it to be about 18 oz. with a hollow area in the butt so I can adjust it’s weight. I would like the butt diameter to be 3.5 cm.
Jeff
Have you all worked out your symbol/badge inlay yet? I’d like to have it put into my butt section with a piece of thick plastic over it, like the way Dufferin did with their different Maple Leafs in their butt sleeve sections.
Jeff
Anton, 3.4cm is the diameter for the butt sleeve area. Should I have a metal joint on this cue? I wont be using it to break with as I use a 19oz Dufferin to do that. I would only be sinking balls with this cue. Your thoughts?
Hello Jeff,
Please confirm the parameters:
Taper begins past the spliced area.
White ferrule.
Butt rings like #6.
Radial joint pin.
No varnish.
Total length 60″ (30\30).
Tip diameter 12.5mm
Weight – 18 oz. with a hollow area
Butt diameter – 3.4cm
As for logo, we can put our standard shuriken like we make on each our cue.
As for joint, it’s a matter of your preferences. As a cuemaker I prefer metal to metal joints, feels more durable. But any joint will work fine. If you are not planning to switch shafts than our standard metric joint will serve you for a very long time. No need to pay $40 extra for universal joint. And such finish with the parameters will cost $100 extra for you.
But if you plan to buy some shafts in the future, than universal joint like Uniloc quick release or Radial pin is your choise. It will cost $40 extra.
Anton, your standard logo is fine, if you do not have the new one ready. The standard metric joint is fine.
Send me the buynow button for $100. Thanks.
Here is the button for $100:

I’ll provide you with the tracking number when the cue is sent.

I got it today, a few minuets ago from DHL. Thanks for the quick delivery, really. I can’t wait to give it a try. Now, I just need to contact my local pool cue maker and ask him to finish it for me. Thanks for everything and for making this a pretty painless process.
Best of wishes to the staff at Shuriken,
